TAIWAN BEACH
Does anyone recognize this beach? I took this photo in 1963 and I think it was about an hour NE of Taipei. Comment or email me if you think you know where this is.

A Sergeant Lee was Chiang's Sergeant of the Guard on Grass Mountain in 1959/1960. The sergeant and I became friends playing ping pong at the hostel. He would sometimes let some of us in the swimming pool in the park by the hostel after normal hours. Once, he took a friend and me to what was then a very isolated village on the northeast coast of Taiwan. To get there, we drove up to what John Crum calls the Seven Star Microwave Site, then drove down to the coast on a road going northeast from the site.
My memory is that the area and village were off limits to non-natives at the time, but it could be that it was so isolated that only the natives went there. Looking at Google Earth, I can see that, as with the rest of Taiwan, that coast has changed a lot since my time. It’s been over 50 years since I was there, but the beach in your picture could be that beach. I don't remember the name of the village.
thanks Stev. I think you are right. There were only Chinese people there. I took my wife's Aunt and Uncle there for a picnic etc. and got stuck in the sand. A lot of young men came and helped me get it out. Nive beach. I think it may be paved over now by a highway.
